Once a princess...

I will admit. I am a princess. I am definitely the product of my upbringing. You see, the women in my family are exposed-early and often- to the trappings of being a girly girl. My mom frequents the salon, and always has. Her mother was just as committed to the "beautiful shop" as my dad calls it.

Now keep in mind, these are not all just "gimmes"- my mom often says that growing up she would skip lunch and save her money all week for a manicure. And my grandmother was in highly visible leadership positions all over town.
And here I am. I love getting my hair cut, or nails done, and even take perverse pleasure in wax experiences (my apologies to my male readership if that makes you squeamish). All in the name of doing something for myself, and feeling darn good about it. Two years ago, I told my husband that if I could have any material "gift" one thing that would be high on the list is a lifetime of Aveda treatments....always a princess.
